Sultan Abdul Aziz Royal Gallery



Sultan Abdul Aziz Royal Gallery was first commissioned in 2002. The museum is a dedication of the ninth Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, the present Selangor Sultan to honour his lat late father, Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah. There are various royal collections depicting the reigning period of the late king, from his early childhood through his appointment as the eighth Sultan Selangor in 1960 and as the eleventh King in 1999. Among the collections include replicas of Selangor’s crown jewels, royal seal of Sultan Sir Abdul Samad (fourth Selangor Sultan) and state sword decorated with silver and Burmese rubies used by the fifth Selangor Sultan. The gallery displays the history and heritage of Sultanate of Selangor since 1766 from more than 2,000 artifacts. The gallery is opened every day except Mondays from 10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

The blob fish is a deep sea fish of the Psychroulutidae. It inhabits the deep waters off the coasts mainland Australia and Tasmania, as well as the waters of New Zealand. Blob fish are typically shorter than 30 cm. They live at depths between 600 and 12,00 m where the pressure is several dozen times higher than at sea level, which would likely make gas bladders inefficient for maintaining buoyancy. Instead, the flesh of the blob fish is primarily a gelatinous mass with a density slightly less than water; this allows the fish to float above the sea floor without expending energy on swimming. Its relative lack of muscle is not a disadvantage as it primarily swallows edible matter that floats in fronts in front of it such as deep-ocean crustaceans. Blob fish are often caught as bycatch in bottom trawling nets. Scientists now fear the blob fish could become as endangered species because of deep-ocean trawling.
